Ephesians 4:31-32 (NIV): 31 'Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.'
๐Verse 31. is calling us to let go of what’s slowly destroying us inside. What is eating you up inside? Bitterness and rage might feel justified, especially when someone’s hurt you deeply. But holding on to it doesn’t heal you... it hardens you. This isn’t about pretending it didn’t happen. It’s about choosing not to let that pain take over your whole life. I know it's hard but you have to try... I am very outspoken (not confrontational๐), so this is a challange for me. Working on it though...
Verse 32. reminds us that God didn’t wait for us to deserve forgiveness. He gave it to us freely and that same grace He gave us is what we are called to pass on. It’s not easy, especially when people are not apologetic and disregard your feelings. You have to remember that kindness and forgiveness do not make you weak, it rather free's you. You are not excusing the hurt but simply choosing not to carry it anymore. God knows forgiveness is hard, especially when you are still bleeding from the wound. But He also knows it’s the only way your heart truly heals. You forgive not because they deserve it, but because God forgave you. Release yourself from whatever hurt is weighing you down today and move forward. Does not mean you have to be friends again with the person, it is okay if you are cordial and choose your peace. Work on it, baby steps helps, and have a Blessed day๐๐I recommend you do this breathing excercise before you pray: Repeat for 1–2 minutes, or longer if needed
- Sit or lie down comfortably
- Inhale slowly (while inhaling in your heart say): 'Lord, I receive Your peace'
- Exhale gently (while exhaling in your heart say): 'I release my heaviness'
๐Let's Pray: God, You see the bitterness and pain I carry. What they did hurt me deeply, and I am not ready to forgive, but I don’t want this to own me forever. You forgave me when I didn’t deserve it. Help me begin to do the same. Just one small step today. My heart is open. Lead me, oh Lord. In Jesus name we pray, Amen
๐Faith-building activity:
- Write down your pain: be very honest about your feelings
- Pray honestly: e.g. 'God, this is heavy. I don’t know what to do with it. Please help me carry it.'
- Release it: Rip the paper. Delete the note. Or fold it and set it aside. Say: “Lord, I am handing this pain over to You now.'
