MELT MY ♥ Daily Dose - Ecclesiastes 7:9 (NIV)
'Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit,
for anger resides in the lap of fools.'
Anger is a window the devil uses to get us to sin and be disobedient to God. Moses never saw the promised land because his anger led to disobedience to God. The disciple Peter was known for his constant outbursts. Jonah's anger led him to disobey God and he ended up in the belly of a whale:-) In Jonah 4:9 (NIV)' But God said to Jonah, “Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?”
Jonah's reply “It is,” he said. “And I’m so angry I wish I were dead.”
See how anger can make you completely loose your wits. Why would Jonah argue with the one who created him? Our God is full of compassion but think about it, we all have experienced it getting so angry that you end up saying words that cannot be taken back or even getting into fist fights. Especially these days with the 'I do not want to be messed with' attitude, people are loosing there lives over foolishness. It's really a serious issue we have to work on as children of God. I must confess I actually got fired because of Anger. My boss was very disrespectful to me and being a child of God I should have walked away, thought about how to solve it, prayed about it and moved on. But no, my pride & ego got in the way, I confronted her to me I was not being rude but she apparently used her 'power' to get me fired that same week. It was injustice on my part but I believe God was teaching me a lesson. I later apologized after praying about it and thanked her for the opportunity which was very BIG of me, lol, man God is really stripping me:-) I had to obey... It shocked her, she was not expecting that from me but I felt better leaving obeying God's word and with dignity rather than in malice.
People will try you especially when you have decided to get closer to God, or when you are fasting:-) It could be family, work, road rage, friends, how do you handle it? Proverbs 19:11 (KJV) says 'The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.'
Learn or train yourself to think about it, walk away, pray about it before you respond. If it's someone you are not familiar with just give them a "God Bless You" and walk away, I am telling you it works. Road Rage, why loose your life over someone who can't drive in your opinion or is accusing you of the same? Roll up your windows and drive away, it is not that serious. You are living for Christ, you still have a lot to do in his name, as well as your family. If it get's bad call the cops! For the teenagers or adults who want the reputation of being tough, what does it really give you that will enhance your life spiritually, your future? Is life not worth more than 'street credibility'? Are you being bullied? Report it to the school authorities, the cops and take them to God. Get on your knees about it and see how God's justice works.
Remember, let's not let anger control us, we can control it. Staying angry with someone gives them power over you is that what you want? Learn to walk away, if you need to adress it make sure you are calm or just walk away and let God handle it. If God's wrath can be on such faithful men such as Moses, Jonah, David, due to anger even though he is compassionate, how about us? Self reflect and work on it, it's never too late♥
