Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV): 'Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our
faith...'
Sometimes the greatest battle isn't before the breakthrough, it's AFTER... Learn why your mind may still be living in survival mode, how
the enemy tries to steal your peace, and what Scripture says about renewing
your mind in Christ. (Romans 12:2; John 10:10).
πGod has answered your prayer, Heaven moved... but so did the
enemy. When he couldn't stop your breakthrough, he changed his strategy. You prayed, perharps even fasted, waited by faith... then voila, God answered. Your breakthrough is here, you are grateful, joyful, finally at peace. For a while you enjoy the relief, then silently, you begin to feel a shift. A dark cloud begins to loom over you... again. But why?? The familiar heaviness creeps in but this time more intense. You are confused thinking "Lord what is going on? I am in a great season in my life, why the shift? What is this heaviness?" You know God has been faithful. You know He's made a way. He has moved mountains for you. Time and time again, He's proven that nothing is impossible
for Him (Luke 1:37). So why does your
heart still feel burdened?
When you've spent months, or even years living in crisis,
your mind doesn't automatically recognize when the battle is over. It
has grown so used to carrying burdens that it doesn't know how to rest. Without even realizing it, survival mode
becomes your default. The mind can become so familiar with surviving that it
unconsciously forgets how to simply live. This is where the enemy tries his strategy, not by changing what God has done because he has missed that opportunity, but by
shifting our focus away from God's faithfulness and onto our fears. The devil couldn't stop God from blessing you so now he attacks something very vital, your mental health. He shifts your focus, and with it your peace. In John10:10, Jesus warns us: "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy (NKJV). Instead of
remembering the God who carried us through, we become consumed with "...the 'what ifs': 'What if it doesn't last? What
if everything falls apart again? Don't get too comfortable.'" Before you know it, our minds are no longer fixed on God's
faithfulness, but fixed on our fears. So how do we break free from this cycle and renew our minds?
By Fixing Our Eyes on the Cross
"Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our
faith..." Hebrews 12:2 (NKJV) πThe Cross is our Anchor in every season. When our minds drift toward fear, Jesus calls us to
intentionally redirect our focus, not to our circumstances, but to the Cross, where His sacrifice reminds us that His
love and faithfulness never change. The enemy wants you to focus so much on what could go wrong
that you forget everything God has already made right. π‘God calls us to fix
our eyes on Him, the place where fear loses its grip and peace is found, Amen. Every time your mind drifts back into survival mode, gently remind
yourself of God's faithfulness. Remember every prayer He answered, every door He opened, and every battle He has brought you through. Praise Him! Trust me, this
works. Even David, a man after God's own heart experienced seasons when his soul
felt downcast despite all God had done in his life. He never pretended his emotions didn't exist but instead he acknowledged it and brought it honestly before God, reminding himself of God's
faithfulness. In Psalm 42:5, he laments "Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you
disquieted within me? Hope in God..." (NKJV). In Psalm 103:2 (NKJV), He redirected his focus back to God, and renewed his mind with God's truth, "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits..."
π‘When guilt creeps in because
you're struggling, recognize when your focus has quietly shifted and gently
bring it back to Jesus, our Lord & Savior. God isn't asking you to hide your
emotions. He is actually inviting you to bring it to Him. Every time you choose to lift your eyes to Christ, the lies
of the enemy lose it's power, and His peace begins to fill your heart, Amen.
Remember, God is still faithful. "The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning." Lamentations 3:22–23 (NLT). πGod didn't bring you this far to abandon you now. Your feelings do not cancel God's
Faithfulness. Feeling heavy doesn't mean you're ungrateful. It doesn't mean that your faith is weak or you have disappointed God. It simply means your mind is learning to trust what your spirit already
knows, Amen!
Why Does My Mind Fight What My Spirit Knows?π€
➤➤The Spirit is our core connection to Christ, while our mind processes our
thoughts, emotions, fears, and daily experiences. In other words, your spirit connects with God
and receives His truth. Your mind then interprets your experiences and chooses
whether to dwell on God's truth or on fear.
E.G. Your spirit knows God is faithful because of your relationship with Him.
But your mind may still replay past hurts, imagine worst-case scenarios, or
struggle to let go of fear. That's why the Bible calls us to renew our minds so
our thoughts increasingly align with the truth our spirits already know. Hope this helps! Check out imageπ if you are a visual learner like meπ.
This explains why the devil often targets our minds because it influences how we think, feel, and respond to life. He often uses fear, worry, discouragement, and lies to steal our peace and shift our focus away from God's faithfulness and onto our circumstances, (John 10:10; Ephesians 6:12). However, DONT forget, you have already overcome him by the blood
of the Lamb, Amen, (Revelation 12:11). God's peace isn't found in perfect circumstances. It's found in His presence. Isaiah 26:3 (NLT) notes; "You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!". So when the heaviness creeps in, do not condemn yourself. Bring it to Jesus. Ask Him to renew your mind. As you
spend time in His presence, He will transform your heart from a place of
survival to a place of trust. Amen!
May God bless you todayπ. Keep your
eyes fixed on the Cross, not the lies in your mind. The same God who brought you through will carry you
forward, Amen. He is your strength, and He will never leave your side.
❤️ Fun fact: Whenever I am going
through an emotional battle, I imagine myself standing in the middle of a
battlefield. Enemies on every side, firing arrows at me. The fear, the anxiety, the lies, they're
all coming at once. But in the distance, I imagine a bright Cross. Instead of
focusing on the battle around me, I intentionally fix my eyes on the Cross, just as in Hebrews 12:2. I
focus on Jesus with my whole heart, forgetting about the bullets flying
all around me. It may sound a little "out there"... π
but it
genuinely helps me. Maybe it's because it reminds me that the battle isn't
mine, it's the Lord's (2 Chronicles 20:15). Perharps your picture won't be a battlefield, and that's okay. Find what helps you keep your eyes on
Jesus. Some days would be a challenge, but don't give up. Every time
you turn your eyes back to Him, you're choosing faith over fear. He'll meet you right where you are. Sometimes the smallest reminder can bring the greatest peace, Amenπ€.
πLet’s Pray: Heavenly Father, Thank you for every prayer you've answered and for every way you've shown
Yourself faithful. Your love never fails, and Your mercies are new every
morning (Lamentations 3:22–23). Forgive me for the times my mind drifts back
into fear, even after You've made a way. Help me recognize when I'm living in
survival mode instead of resting in Your promises.
With your mercy, please renew my mind (Romans 12:2), guard my heart and mind with Your perfect
peace (Philippians 4:7), and teach me to keep my eyes fixed on Jesus, the
Author and Finisher of my faith (Hebrews 12:2), rather than on my
circumstances. Help me take every fearful thought captive and make it obedient
to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). Fill me with the peace You promise to those
whose minds are stayed on You (Isaiah 26:3), and remind me that the God who was
faithful yesterday will be faithful tomorrow.
Thank You that through the blood of Jesus I have victory over every lie
of the enemy (Revelation 12:11). I choose today to trust You, rest in Your
faithfulness, and walk by faith instead of fear. In Jesus' name, Amen. Have a Blessed Day, love youπ.
