MELT My ♥ Daily Dose - Matthew 6:13 (NLT)

'And don’t let us yield to temptation,

    but rescue us from the evil one.'

The thing which we all need to be delivered from is evil, and the thing which leads to evil is temptation. 

The devil beguiled and tempted our first parents into evil by a terrible lie. Since then evil has been the common estate of human existence. Now, not only do we have the devil still to tempt us, but also the world and the flesh as well. The world which has become infected with the same evil disobedience to God is a constant temptation to forget the true God. It says to us eat, drink and be merry without regard to the one who gave us these blessings to enjoy. Also our own sinful nature is now more than prone to lead us into evil by sin and disobedience to God.

So with these three evil enemies against us, the world the flesh and the devil, our Saviour teaches us to pray deliver us from evil. Also to pray that we would not be led into the temptation in the first place. Let’s pray that through Christ and the blood of His atoning death for us that we may be forgiven and delivered from all evil.

Prayer : Heavenly Father, lead us not into temptation but rather lead us in the path of righteousness and peace. In Jesus’ Name we pray, amen ♥
