MELT MY ♥ Weekend Dose - Lamentations 3:22-24 - Adversity, The best is Yet to Come...

MELT MY ♥ Weekend Dose - Lamentations 3:22-24
'Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.'

Adversity is one of the toughest places to be in life.  When you have walked through the valley of the shadow of death and yet there seems to be no light in view what do you do?  Your faith gets tested,  you begin to question God, yourself, what am I doing wrong?  Am I cursed?  The Bible never guarantees a life free from suffering but the dark moments of our life last only as long as necessary for God to accomplish his purposes. The Lord uses trials, difficulty, and pain to equip us for more effective service to him. We may not understand it but as you and I continue to trust and obey Him, God uses hardship to develop the character of Christ within us.

The Prophet Jeremiah was in his time of adversity when he wrote today's weekend dose. Like the book of Job, Lamentations pictures a man of God puzzling over the results of evil and suffering in the world. While Job dealt with unexplained evil, Jeremiah lamented (in grief, weeping, sorrow) over a tragedy entirely of Jerusalem’s making. The people of this once great city experienced the judgment of the holy God, and the results were devastating. But at the heart of this book, at the center of this lament over the effects of sin in the world, is today's daily dose devoted to hope in the Lord (Lamentations 3:22–25). This statement of faith standing strong in the midst of the surrounding darkness shines as the core to all those suffering under the consequences of sin, disobedience or maybe just the season of trials.

Sometimes we must go through the valley to reach the top of the mountain. Figuratively, the valley is what we call the times of adversity. These are those times when you may have some questions for our Heavenly Father. The hard times are when we should draw nigh unto God; He wants to hear from us, Proverbs 8:17 (NIV) "I love those who love me,  and those who seek me find me.

Through Adversity lets remember to ask the Lord for his forgiveness of any known or unknown sins or disobedience in our lives. Let's continue to trust his word, obey and remember, Psalms 23:4 (NIV), 'Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me.'  Trust that God will bring you out of it, it shall be well with you in Jesus name, hang in there, the end is almost over, Joy comes in the morning!  Have a Blessed week ♥
