MELT MY ♥ Daily Dose - Matthew 22:37 (NIV)
"37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."
This scripture cannot be more direct, it's a command that leaves very little out in terms of our devotion to God.
We live in such a self absorbed society that if one is not careful we become selfish and ungrateful with our focus on the flesh rather than of things above.
It's all about making ourselves comfortable. Adjusting the scriptures to meet our needs. Well the Bible says I need to love God wholeheartedly, to love someone is to get to know them, seek them, want to be around them but if Sunday's the only convenient day for you to seek God then imagine if he only gives you his attention once a week? What would life be like for you, think about it! Let's get out of 'self' and do this wholeheartedly. Get out of Religion like the Pharisees in this scripture. They not only knew the Ten Commandments, but they paid rigorous attention to all the laws in the books of Moses–613 laws1 according to a traditional count.
So when Jesus was asked the question, in Matthew 22:36 (NIV) “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” . Jesus replied, ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.
Heart, soul, and mind are not three distinct individual pieces of ourselves that we may offer. They all point to what we really are, our Core. The Bible indicates that our heart is central: (Luke 6:45 NIV). “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. Everything we are and have, beginning with our inmost commitments and all our thoughts, we must devote to loving, adoring, and serving God. It involves the fear, service, obedience, and worship of the great God who is the Creator. If you give God 100% he gives you 100% if you are an 'iffy' or 'kinda sorta' Christian then expect those results. When you make the decision to give your life to Christ, you let go of self and allow the holy spirit to work in your life by praying, seeking his word, obeying his commands, sharing his love, trusting him, it's all in the Bible. Just believe, let go of self and see what God will do for you. Don't be a part-time Believer it's a waste of your time, be fully committed, remember that God Loves you♥
