MELT MY ♥ Daily Dose - Psalms 34:19 (ESV)
'Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
but the Lord delivers him out of them all.'
These sayings are all too familiar with some of us... Pretending to be happy when we are not. We tend to do this out of fear of being labeled by society. We have created all these labels or diagnosis that people tend to isolate themselves and just pretend to be fine when they are really hurting inside. Sometimes all one really needs is a hug, a prayer, kind words, a scripture, a referral.
Be very careful trying to give advise if you do not understand somebody's struggle you may be making it worse for them. Pastor Paula White (click her name for more info about her) posted this on her Facebook page and it cannot be more true, 'Do not tell me how to walk on water when you are sailing on your ship'. I know you may be trying to help but I have been in that situation and it's actually very annoying and depressing when someone's trying to minister to you and it has nothing to do about your struggles. Yes you are grateful however when someone is broken one's tolerance level is at a zero!
If you suspect that one is suffering emotionally, seek the face of God before approaching them. If you think it's an emergency tell an experienced Counselor or Pastor in your Church or community. Some of us have had friends who we hung out with and had a great time, only to be told the next day that the person committed suicide. Can you imagine carrying that burden of guilt? Asking yourself why didn't I do this or that? Yes, we suspected something was wrong but we didn't think it was that bad. Well apparently not! Seeking help for the person may have made us feel a lot better but it's a tragic lesson learned. It is ok to cross boundaries as Christians sometimes if that's the only way we can help.
To those hurting inside with the best smile ever, remember today's daily dose. Plead your cause with God, have faith and he will see you through. Please do not give the devil a window to keep you isolated or depressed and refrain from getting help. Church is like a hospital where almost 100% of us are suffering from one thing or the other. Nobody is perfect they may pretend to be like you are... Seek help from your Church, get medical help if needed and rectify the issue. Why live in depression when God has given you the authority to change things? You are stronger than you think, get out of bondage and enjoy the gift of life♥
