What I learned in church this week 9.21 - Deliverance of the tongue

James 3:2-11 (NLT) - Controlling the Tongue
3 Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly. 2 Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way.  3 We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. 5 In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches.  But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. 6 And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

My apologies for posting this so late, SIGH!!!  It’s been a long week but I thank God for his Blessings.  This message was so touching that I had to share.  It may seem repetitive but please keep an open mind and really think about the impact of your words…  Do you speak positive words about your self or towards others?  What are your choice of words when you are angry, provoked or not among fellow christians?  Are your words filled with Grace? Eph 4:29 “Your words will determine your eternity.”    Our heart is the basis of our thinking and the outflow of such as in the heart is what comes out of the mouth.  Check out examples below of  men in the Bible who suffered greatly from  the consequence of the tongue.
* Gossiping - Aaron & Mariam - Numbers 12:1-9 Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite.
*Anger - Moses uttered angry words - Numbers 20:6-13
*Lying - Ananias & Sapphira - Act 5:1-10
*Pride - king Nebuchadnezzar became a beast - Daniel 4:23-33

Proverbs 10:19-20 (NKJV) states that “19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking,  But he who restrains his lips is wise.  20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;  The heart of the wicked is worth little.”
1 Peter 3:10 (NKJV) “10 For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit.”

Our eternal Destiny is determined by the words we speak.  Matthew 12:37 (NKJV) 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

I pray that our tongues would not bring sudden destruction upon us in Jesus name.
Eph 4:29 "Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to hearers.
