Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
Pride is pre-occupation with self, superiority, an ego, feeling better or more knowledgable than others looking down on others, being disrespectful, boastful, arrogant, not heeding to anyone's advice, "A know it all" I can go on & on... A lot of us as Christians suffer from this baggage. We become so 'self righteous' or 'holier than thou' because we have memorized some scriptures, we know the Bible, know how to worship, so nobody's on your level not even your Pastor. You look down on others not as 'spiritual' as you are, criticize & mock others, you are so engaged in your little bubble you have created that you don't realize that you have become rebellious to God. Pride is rebellion against God because it attributes to self the honor and glory due to God alone. 1 Timothy 6:4 ESV states"he is puffed up with conceit and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy craving for controversy and for quarrels about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, evil suspicions,"
Pride is a Christians greatest enemy & humility should be our best friend. Do not lose your blessings because of pride and disobedience, we all know the story of Jonah in the Bible; it's not worth the suffering over something you can change. Goliath was full of pride because he was not only a giant but had the best weapons to defend himself during war. He was offended that short, robust David ( who came to him in humility) challenged him a giant and not only that the nerve of him to come to me with a sling and some stones. He ended up losing the battle...
If you know you suffer from Pride ask God for forgiveness and ask him to lead you towards living a life of humility. One of the definitions of Wisdom is knowing & doing what is right, applying & understanding the information & knowledge you attain in accordance to the word of God. What a better way to live for Christ! Lets do a self check and rectify it now if need be. Do not wait before its too late, remember it is a Sin...
