"But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
It's meaning is simple. A person’s appearance, either their physical attributes or dress, are no indication of their inner being. We as humans are incredibly complex, the heart of man can be deceitful and desperately wicked; Jeremiah17:9 (NKJV)
While our physical appearance may well be apparent, looking 'holier than thou' and judging others, our spiritual inner dimension may be rotten. Who are you then pleasing man or God? As the saying goes, the outside of the cup may appear clean and whitewashed, however, inside reveals a completely different story. Even Samuel was swayed by the physical prowess when meeting Jesse’s first son, Eliab, he immediately assumed him the oldest and strongest of his sons must be God’s anointed (1 Sam 16:6) but God made it clear – DO not consider his appearance or height – I have rejected him.
As children of God a lot of times we get so caught up in 'religion' that we loose our focus on the true meaning of God's word. It's not a competition we are all trying to make heaven it's not a race. You want to show that you can pray, you know the bible, you dress conservatively, you can sing, preach, but you don't do it to glorify God but to boast, be 'puffed-up' filled with Pride and make others fill that they are not on your level with the 'holy sprit'. It is a SIN, stop it! Get out of the fakeness FAST. Do it to inspire others not bring people down and make them feel unfulfilled. God has clearly stated that he see's our motives. Be very careful about being deceived by false prophets or fake 'Christian' friends. That's why I always stress Pray, pray, pray... Ask for the spirit of discernment to lead you to a faith building community, leadership, friends. Surround yourself with people who empower you, can counsel you according to the word of God. You should not feel uncomfortable or judged in an environment that's supposed to lift up your spirits. When you worship, worship in faith, in obedience according to the will of God. I have always stressed when I go to church I go to grow spiritually to get uplifted, if you are inwardly judging me then the wrath of God will be upon you. God knows my heart and how hungry I am for his word. Let's all do a self check nobody is perfect. Remember, do not live in disobedience. Let's enrich each others lives and enjoy the greatness of the awesome God we serve. If you do it right, trust me, words cannot describe the peace. Make your motives pure, God is watching ♥
