MELT MY ♥ Weekend Dose - 2 Timothy 1:7 #NewBeginnings #Fear #Faith

Daily Dose 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

A lot of times we tend to comprehend situations in the physical and not the spiritual.  Easy as it sounds to hold on to faith and NOT fear we tend to think or compare past situations or outcomes to whatever we are going through.  This for me is one of my challenges this New year to hold on to God's promise and NOT entertain fear.
Paul as a prisoner was on death row, about to be beheaded still held on to his faith in God, rejected fear and mentored  others to resist fear.  WOW!   Really blown away by that level of faith.  I think a day at a time is all it takes and our God is a forgiving God and understands that we are his children growing spiritually so don't beat yourself up if you slip:-)
Since I graduated from college my career has been a roller coaster.  Went to school for Arts & Design and this has affected my self esteem so much.  Going to interviews have become a nightmare and I must say sometimes annoying.  By faith I know God has better plans for me and I am holding on to today's daily Dose.  I will continue to give my 'ALL' in interviews until God's promise is fulfilled.

Summary of 2nd Timothy
  • One of the 3 letters in the New Testament in the Bible often referred to as 'The Pastoral Epistles'.  They are presented as letters Paul the apostle (disciple) wrote to Timothy-1st & 2nd Timothy, Titus while in prison in Rome.  (Christians were a target in Rome during that period & were persecuted)
  • Timothy was mentored by Paul and was now ministering to the church at Ephesus for four years
  • This 2nd letter was to provide him encouragement and fortitude in the face of difficulties and trials.

Paul understood that the ministry would only become more difficult for Timothy with the apostle’s impending death. (Indeed, at some point after this letter from Paul, Timothy was imprisoned for his faith [Hebrews 13:23]). Paul knew that Timothy’s task of keeping the church within the bounds of sound doctrine while encouraging believers to live their lives well for the sake of Christ would be an often thankless and difficult task. Though hardship would come, Paul wanted Timothy to continue in those things he had learned, drawing on the rich heritage of faith that had been passed down to the young pastor, not just from Paul but also from his mother and grandmother (2 Timothy 1:5–63:14–15).
